May 2010: Panel Discussions on Mane, Jogwa, and Amanush

Panel discussions on three classic Indian films were held during May 2010 :  ಮನೆ  (Kannada -29-05-2010), जोगवा  (Marathi-30-05-2010), and अमानुष  (Hindi- 31-05-2010).
Mane

Mane (The Dwelling) directed by Girish Kasaravalli and starring Naseeruddin Shah and Deepti Naval won the following Awards:
National Award for Best Feature Film in Kannada, 1990 / National Award for Best Film on Social Issues / Indian Panorama, 1990 / Sydney Film Festival, 1991 / London Film Festival, 1991 / Fukuoka Film Festival, 1999
Jogwa
Jogwa - The Awakening is a National Film Award winning 2009 Marathi film directed by Rajiv Patil. It stars Uupendra Limaye and Mukta Barve in the lead roles while Priya Berde, Vinay Apte and Kishor Kadam essay supporting roles.

The film bagged five awards at the national film awards for 2009 : National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues, National Film Award for Best Actor : Upendra Limaye, National Film Award for Best Music Direction : Ajay Atul, National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer : Shreya Ghoshal for song "Jiv Rangla" , National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer: Hariharan for song "Jiv Rangla"
Amanush


Amanush is a 1975 Indian film made in both Hindi and Bengali produced and directed by Shakti Samanta. The film stars Sharmila Tagore, Uttam Kumar, Utpal Dutta and Asit Sen.The film was later remade in Telugu as "Edureeta" (1977) starring N.T.Rama Rao, Vanisri, and Jayasudha.
